The Strand


First recorded in 1002 as Strondway, Strond being Old English for shore, this road was originally on the banks of the river Thames, when it was much wider at this point, before the development of the Victoria Embankment by the Joseph Bazalgette.

Savoy Hotel...famously the only place in the UK where you drive on the right.
