Ghost Signs

I've always been fascinated by "Ghost Signs". These are old advertising signs, painted straight onto the brick end walls of buildings. They are a real glimpse into how colourful and bright it was during times that we only ever see in black and white photographs. There are plenty of websites devoted to them -

Here are a few I spotted while tootling around.

Down Commercial Street, Spitalfields.

I think this one is near Southgate Road and the canal. I can't exactly remember.

This one is near Petticoat Market.

This is my favourite, Regent Square, WC1.

I really can't remember where this was...the northern Blackwall Tunnel Approach road?

Old Street

Stoke Newington High Street.

Stoke Newington High Street again.

Dingley Place, Clerkenwell.

Somewhere along the Uxbridge Road

The pedestrian bit of Mare Street, Hackney.

Down the Holloway Road.

Grant Street, off Chapel Market.

Holloway Road again.

White Lion Street, near the Angel, Islington.

Wharf Road, Islington.

I think this was along the Hackney Road.
